- Your video presentation will include some biographical information about the theorist and their influences, why you selected the theorist, an overview of the theory, a critique of the theory, a measurable concept of the theory, and a description of the theorist’s most significant contributions to nursing/health care. You also will demonstrate the application of the theory to show its application to clinical practice.
During each week of this course, you will be required to complete a portion of this presentation.
- During Week 1, you will select a theorist (from the provided nursing theorist list) and provide a rationale for your selection. There will be no duplicate presentations; if your preferred theorist has already been selected, you must select another theorist.
- If you are not sure who you want to select, reflect on your own clinical practice and consider some concepts and topics of importance to you. Perform a literature search using those words combined with “theory” and you will find theories from which to choose.
- Your presentation will be more meaningful to you when you select a theory that is of personal and professional interest to you.
- Because dissemination of information is an essential piece of scholarship, during Week 7 you will share your presentation with your peers, and during Week 8 you will give constructive feedback to each other using the grading rubric provided.
