Identify at least one complementary and alternative therapy (CAM) that you would recommend if requested by the parents. Describe this therapy and identify which therapies would be contraindicated.

A 2022 study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that 6 million children aged 3–17 years have been diagnosed with ADHD, representing about 9.8 percent, based on data from 2016 to 2019 (Drechsler et al., 2020).

While stimulant medications are beneficial for many children with ADHD, various complementary health approaches are used by both adults and children (Drechsler et al., 2020). These include omega-3 fatty acids, melatonin, herbs, other dietary supplements, specialized diets, neurofeedback, and different mind and body practices to manage ADHD symptoms (Drechsler et al., 2020). For this case study, I would recommend mind-body interventions such as meditation, yoga, tai chi, mindfulness, and hypnotherapy.
