The Hardships of the Covid-19 Pandemic

The Covid-19 is an obnoxious disease that has trolled the lives of mass humanity
worldwide and interfered with healthcare systems, leaving society in a state of vulnerability.
March 2020 is the exact date of the declaration of the COVID -19 virus. Prior to being declared a
worldwide pandemic, the disease was recognized in December 2019 in China, where many
Chinese citizens are experiencing the symptoms. The condition is characterized by respiratory
complications that cause difficulty in breathing. Medics have advised on precaution and
containment measures that have seen some heal from the disease, but unfortunately, those with
underlying conditions have lost lives.
This disease is passed on through droplets when an individual coughs or sneezes. Various
vaccines have been developed to reduce the infection cases, which have been seen to be effective
in most cases with some minimal failure. There is no cure that has been discovered yet. This
paper is a summary of an interview with three individuals that partook deeply on the talk about
the hardships they have seen as result by the pandemic.
Taraji Mowry is a diligent young gentleman aged 27, he still lives with his two parents and sister
under their parents' roof. He is a hardworking man who has worked had to sustain his family and
grandparents. I interview her together with her family members to understand to what extent the
family has been on the downside of the Corona pandemic. Taraji Mowry says his business on
May 7, 2020, as a result of the pandemic. The pandemic’s measures have had most of the
customers limited in their residents. Moreover, the majority of customers he services has
incredibly reduced, which he presumes because of loss of jobs, which has left many without
sources of income. Taraji Mowry says his garage, car spare parts and car wash business is not

one that can operate remotely. He laid off his workers and offered door to door deliveries by
himself of the products bought online or through the business website, which later stopped after
his stock was over. He has had to officially close his business because the sourcing of vehicle
spare parts that sometimes require him to travel to the border points has become unrealistic,
resulting in the increase in travel costs. He rhetorically comments, ‘Well, what is the need of
doing business if the outcome is a loss?’ The pandemic has caused the end of his business,
unemployment to the prospective workers and job layoffs to most. COVID-19 pandemic is
causing loss of income to many Americas, and lower living standards as the prices of goods go
up.
The next interviewee is the sister to Taraji Mowry. Her name is Noble Zawadi. Zawadi is
married and has one kid. She says being pregnant in in the Covid has been the toughest challenge
of her life. With a smile she compliments 'But I thank God for having a supportive family that
has held my hand through thick and thin still I finally received my bundle of joy'. She says,
restarting a new life out of home with no employment has been a traumatic situation to her. Her
husband has been laid off due to Covid 19 restrictions and they are left with no money for
sustenance. They have lost their house which they pay in mortgage leaving them homeless.
Zawadi says she has come back to wait for revival of her husband's job which they both depend
on for survival.
I also interview Melisa Mowry's mum to see how she has been affected by the pandemic. She
says she lost her job and initiatives to acquire another one have proved futile. As a result, she has
resolved to base on real estate business. She says with real estate it is tough to commence due to
the high capital it requires. She says she has had to redeem all the savings she had and borrow
more capital from friends and family. However, she gives a sad face and comments, 'The returns

are not encouraging in this pandemic season Sales are slow and returns are scarce. I am left at the
verge of should I invest more? Or wait for the economy to pick up?' She goes further to give
about the real ground situation about the real estate industry. Mrs. Melisa summarizes that due to
Covid 19, restrictions, there is lesser number of tourists and internal travel, hence lesser sell of
Air B n' B services as well as houses, which is a threat bout her income and also the
Lastly, my third interviewee, Mr Haleem Johnson Mowry, Taraji Mowry's father. He
talks about his office job which he has started doing from home. He alleges having issues in his
