Concept B of Charles Darwin’s theory explains how organisms or species have evolved, known as natural selection. His theory explains that organisms are more likely to produce offspring than survive. The offspring with the better or stronger traits pass the traits down from generation to generation. Natural selection can also be considered “survival of the fittest (Theory of Evolution, 2023).”

He believed that these new species further developed new traits to adapt to their environment. To not misunderstand the use of evolution through natural selection, it is best to look at how individuals within a population have notable differences such as colour, behaviour, body size and shape (Graves, 2021). This is because of the continued selection of the best genes that are passed on from the predecessor generations to the succeeding generations.

Most of the misinterpretation and misconceptions of Darwin’s Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection can be due to how the theory conflicts with some beliefs on species’ origin. For instance, the theory of creation, which is long held in religions such as Christianity, views the origin of species as from a single all-powerful creator. From a creationist’s perspective, life on earth as it is was directly created by a deity. Other views of a creationist, the Intelligent Design, may appreciate evolution but still argue that such evolutionary processes hold that evolution might occur, but such evolutionary processes are guided by a deity.
